THE GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT OF A CYCLING FACILITY

Junction of Chillerton Road/Birchwood Road and Rectory Lane SW17. 14 Oct

2007: This photo made the January 08 page of www.warringtoncyclecampaign.co.uk/facility-of-the-month and also the Feb/Mar London Cyclist magazine. So the council quickly 'improved' the facility, though without any attention to the supposedly dropped kerb:

With the road being resurfaced, in June 09 Cllr. Gasser asked the Council on my request whether a proper dropped kerb would be installed. The reply was: "The cycle route on the footway between Chillerton Road and Rectory Lane was removed pending a thorough review and redesign of this facility which has now been completed. It is intended to implement an improved facility at this location in 2009/10 subject to the availability of funding. In the meantime the dropped kerb will be reinstated to assist pedestrians with wheelchairs and pushchairs. Yours sincerely Steve Kempster Assistant Head of Operational Services" Here is the much improved dropped kerb in September 2009. I wonder when cyclists  will be allowed to use it.
